BY DON BABWIN City officials sent a message to a movie studio that hoped to help sponsor a Christmas festival with ads for a film about the night Mary and Joseph couldn't find a room at the inn: There's no room for you.
Worried that ads for "The Nativity Story" would offend non-Christians shopping at downtown's traditional German Christkindlmarket, the city asked the German American Chamber of Commerce to reconsider New Line Cinema, which made the film, as a sponsor.
The group then told the studio it would not be part of the bazaar that began Thursday.
The reasoning has at least one prominent Christian group shaking its head. "The last time I checked, the first six letters of Christmas still spell out Christ," said Paul Braoudakis of the Willow Creek Association, a group of more than 11,000 churches.
Besides, he said, there's a nativity scene on display at Daley Plaza, and some vendors sell items related to the nativity.
But city officials say advertising plans, including a loop of the new film that was to be played on TVs at the festival, might offend non-Christians, and run "contrary to acceptable advertising standards suggested to the many festivals holding events on Daley Plaza." AP
You'll have to excuse me but if you are at a CHRISTmas festival wouldn't you kinda sorta maybe in some way shape or form think you might see a depiction of BABY JESUS? MARY? JOSEPH? Hell, how about a stray wise man or magi or some $#(*&^#( talking farm animals??? If I'm in Mecca, I'd expect to see a mosque. If I go to a synagogue, um I would not be offended by a menorah. Great googamooga. It is a Christmas festival unless you are a complete and total moron expect to see CHRISTIANS AND CHRISTIAN IMAGES. My only guess is now Mayor Daley comes to the rescue and rescinds the orders issued by his own bureaucratic boobs. Next year is an election year ya know. Although, Mayor Daley could probably drop kick the Christ Child straight out of the manger and still win because he's a Dimocrat, and that is something, unlike God, the corrupt city of Chi-town can't do without.

MATERIAL GIRL SLAMS BRANGELINA IN BABY-SNATCHIN' SMACKDOWN!

Madonna has outraged Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie by criticising their charity work.
The couple - who are currently in India filming their latest movie A Mighty Heart, in which Angelina stars and Brad is producing - have been left "shocked" after the Hung Up singer blasted their involvement in building an orphanage in India.
A source told Britain's Star magazine: "Angelina is shocked. She can't believe it. She was like, 'Where did that come from?' It seemed like a personal attack.
"Madonna's remarks just sound nasty. Angelina thinks the worst part of it all is that Madonna could have used the opportunity to say something that could actually be of benefit to someone."
As well as criticising Brad and Angelina's work with orphanages, Madonna - who has sparked controversy after adopting a Malawian baby called David - also trivialised Angelina's role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
The 48-year-old pop superstar said: "I'm not interested in going in there like an idiot and going, 'OK, I'm going to build ten orphanages and I'll see you guys later.'"
"I could've joined the UN and become an ambassador, visited various countries and just showed up and smiled and looked concerned. But that's not getting to the root of the problem. And neither is building orphan care centres."

PELOSI DATING MURTHA : WAPO PARENTS NONE TOO PLEASED
Nancy Pelosi is about to be crowned Prom Queen but seems to want to prove she is a bad girl, a rebel without a clue according to some mean-spirited, preppy Republican girls. She was supposed to be seeing Capitol Hill flag football league hero, Steny "someone's in the foyer with" Hoyer. But, according to mutual friend Senator Barbara Mikulski, who plays linebacker on Hoyer's football team the Jackasses, "Nan is a free spirit. That's what she sees in Jack. She won't be controlled. Oh, no not her. She's like the wind...........thru my tree" said the wistful Mikulski.
Whatever the case, Ms Pelosi's politcal parents Ma and Pa Post are quite unhappy about their society deb soon to be Speaker dating the hotheaded and, evidently corrupt Murtha.
"He was a valuable tool slinging mud at the President and the Iraq war prior to the election but we never dreamed Nan would want to bring him in the house!" said Ma Post. "I mean reeeeallly, what could she be thinking. She's about to be Speaker of the US House of Representatives, she's co-editor of the Congressional yearbook and in the glee club. She's on the honor roll and he's on the "dishonor" roll" sneered Mama WaPo.
We caught up with Ms Pelosi smoking cigarettes with the "cool" girls on the steps of Congress on a lunch break. "Yeah, Ma and Pa Post don't like me to have a mind of my own, see. I can't have my own friends. They won't let me have the car on weekends. They are definitely squaresville and this party girl has got some livin' to do."
When asked about Hoyer, Pelosi and her gang of girls giggled. "Steny is a real, nice guy.....but lame. Now Jack, he owes me. He respects the power I crave. And besides, you should see his "Bush-bashing" stick" The mention of which made the entire group oooh and aaah.
Pa WaPo is having none of it. "She'll come around when we cut her allowance. If there's one thing a democratic gal like Nan can't live without it's other people's money. She should be thankful we're not trying to hook her up with a loser like Dick "Les" Durbin."
Stay tuned for the latest society kerfluffle and see who gets invited to the dance.....and who has to be driven home by Uncle Teddy "water under the bridge" Kennedy.

Since our recently re-elected and quite possibly soon to be indicted governor has a penchant for having family members accept "gifts" from those seeking political favors, he might want to consider the scam the current governor of Arkansas is running:

The term-limited governor leaves office in January, and friends of Janet Huckabee created the registries at Dillard’s and Target stores to help facilitate their transition to private life, Huckabee spokeswoman Alice Stewart said Friday.The Huckabees purchased a 7,000-square-foot home in North Little Rock this year.“Some ladies who are friends of Janet’s are giving her a housewarming party,” Stewart said.Arkansas law prohibits public servants from accepting any gift worth more than $100, unless the gift is conferred “on account of a bona fide personal, professional or business relationship” independent of the recipient’s official status.“Items costing more than $100 which are given to public servants to show appreciation for their efforts (i.e., to reward them for doing their job) or to reward them for past or future action are prohibited under this rule,” the law states.
Gifts from relatives are not prohibited, nor are wedding or engagement gifts.The Huckabees married in 1974. They entered into a covenant marriage in February 2005.
State law also requires public servants to report all gifts they receive of $100 value or more on their annual Statement of Financial Interest.
Stewart declined to say if Huckabee was sure that accepting pricey gifts as a result of the registries would be legal or whether he plans to report any valuable gifts they receive.
If the Huckabee's had wanted to relocate a little further north, they could have purchased the Illinois Governor's mansion as no one is living there now.
