HE'S JUST A GOV WHO CAIN'T SAY NO
Our boy wonder Governor Rod has done it again. Blagojevich signed a law this week that provides $500 grants for students from middle income families. And by "middle income" we mean families earning........drumroll.....$200,000 or less. TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IS MIDDLE INCOME???? Yes, 68,000 sophomores, juniors and seniors will be eligible for the grant.
Coming out after two stories this past week of how Illinois has amassed the largest debt of any state in the nation and has the worst poverty rate in the Midwest(despite having the 5th largest economy in the nation) it appears the Governor is trying to keep us NUMBER ONE!
Ironically, tuition at Illinois universities has increased over 50% in the past four years, the largest increase during any Governor's tenure. Maybe he has a guilty conscience or maybe, and this is just my theory, he is an idiot.
But leave it to the Democrats! They take your hard earned money and offer to provide you a service at an incredibly inflated price.(gotta take care of the bureaucrats ya know) Then they give you back a pittance of your OWN money to help you pay for the overpriced often ill-managed program and want you to feel indebted to them for the service they have provided with what was your own money to begin with. Sheesh!
